Absentee

no computer + no camera = no blog posting

Over the past few months I've relocated and begun a new job so things have been hectic and a bit disorganized.  & with no computer, my online vices have been neglected. A terrible excuse really, and one I hope to rectify starting now!

Lately I've been investing as much spare time as possible into my Etsy shop.  My true love is hunting for vintage treasures and my goal is to be able to do it everyday.

Yesterday I had a photo shoot with my friend and lovely model Kiersten.  Fortunately for me, she was willing to sacrifice her afternoon to model some of my latest fabulous finds.

Spring Makeup Trends

As the weather gets warmer day by day, we draw closer to spring, and with that comes spring fashion & makeup!

There were so many interesting looks during the Spring 2011 Fashion Week, I've decided to showcase four that made repeated appearances.

Not so sure if you are loving these trends?  Let's take a better look at how to apply them individually...

Blush
Contrary to popular belief, a cool pink blush can work with a warm lip tone & will work especially well with a nude lip.  Using pink will translate fresh & youthful.  It can also be vibrant and lively for those adventurers who aren't afraid to try bright shades.

Eye Shadow
Lavender, plum, lilac.  These purple shades were seen all over the runways, from Cynthia Rowley to Etro to Victoria Beckham.  Here the color has been blended up to the brow bone and extends beyond the lower lash line.  The look can be scaled down, made lighter, or darker. No matter how you wear it, this look is hypnotic and dramatic.  A softer alternative to the intensity of a black smokey eye.  & universally flattering!  As purples compliment every eye color.

Nails
With all the bright colors and busy prints this spring, skin-toned polish will coordinate effortlessly.  If you have a warm skin tone use a yellow based hue, cool tones should stick to pink based neutrals & darker tones work best with beige shades.

Lips
Orange kissers were popping at Christian Dior, Fendi & Marni among others.  Orange can be a fresh alternative to the classic red lip.  Lighter tones try coral-pinks, deeper tones go for red-orange, & golden/olive tones can experiment with bright shades.

Now you are set to take on spring!  If only it would just hurry and get here :)

Hollywood Tower

Once a bustling residence that housed film luminaries such as Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart & Charlie Chaplin, the Hollywood Tower is now a stunning apartment building and one of my favorite landmarks in Los Angeles.

Why? The phenomenal design of course!  This building has some of the most gorgeous design & style I have seen (I am a little biased because the inspiration is Hollywood’s Golden Age- my favorite era).  However, anyone can appreciate this gorgeous space.

The colors are just right, all those rich plums, bright greens and blues, along with luxurious gold and white accents. & I love the whimsical design of the roof top terrace (did you notice the life size chess board!)

Originally built in 1929, the French-Norman architecture embodies glamour, romance, mystery & fine craftsmanship.  Everything I adore!

Old Hollywood

I received a lovely coffee table book filled with photos of the glamorous Audrey Hepburn for Christmas (thanks to my sis!) and it has inspired me to do a little post on Old Hollywood.  My absolute favorite era.

Clara Bow

Betty Grable

Mae West

Audrey Hepburn

Marion Davies

Elizabeth Taylor

Lauren Bacall

Ingrid Bergman

Marlene Dietrich

Sophia Loren

Marilyn Monroe

Aren't these ladies just gorgeous?  I love looking back on the golden age.  Incredible fashion, handsome gentlemen, meerschaum pipes, fur stoles & fabulous cars.

Bonne journée!

Day 12

No. 12

Is this not the perfect holiday shoe!?  A little glitz, a bit of glam.  And plenty of height.  I'm 5'1" so I could use a few extra inches.

 Happy Holidays
I hope you have enjoyed my 12 Days of Shoes!
